Topocad Base module Topocad - the CAD system for survey, mapping, design and GIS Topocad is a CAD system developed for surveying calculations, COGO, transformation and for mapping, design and GIS connectivity. Since Topocad is a CAD system it is 100% in graphic mode, you will be able to see your data in 2D or 3D all the way. It is built for surveyors and for designers, it speaks their language. Thousands and thousands of users have put their wishes and ideas to Topocad and therefore, we have a system made for surveyors. Topocad has a file format that contains more, more kind of data that both the surveyors and GIS people need. The accuracy of the system is 18 digits, more than most of our competitors. All the functions the surveyor, or the mapper, or the designer needs are there. Functions for creation, modifying, transformation, communication with instruments, calculation using least square method, net adjustment, traverses, symbols, line types, attributes, code tables. The file communication is 100% towards the instruments and towards other CAD file formats like DXF, DWG and other coordinate files. The base module also contains our fast digital terrain modelling, creation of DTM's (or TIN's) for creation of contour lines and, in the design tools, for volume calculations and profiling. Road line is also handled in the base module, road line creation and editing and calculation of section and offset from and towards the road line. Further, it also has a smart function to outline all this in a legend on the drawing sheet.

Topocad GIS adapters Topocad - the CAD system for survey, mapping, design and GIS Topocad GIS side is divided in two modules:
Both these connectors make it very easy to store survey data directly to the GIS environment and from the GIS environment load data to Topocad for drawings, stake out and presentation. With just a few clicks you will take your data in Topocad and store it to the GIS database. From the field we use the field code that is transferred to a specific layer and this layer makes it possible to store data to the database. from the field you can also use codes that is connected to special attributes, or input attributes directly on the field, which will be an object of their own in the database. The look of the survey or the database in Topocad is handled by interpretations; in ISM connection to the Oracle spatial database this is built-in, in the database. In the Arc environment, using any of the databases ArcSDE can use or the personal geo database, the look is stored in XML files outside the database system. The ArcGIS adapter will also work with the version system and possibility to post objects. Read more in Topocad database adapter - for ArcGIS brochure >>
Topocad Design modules Topocad - the CAD system for survey, mapping, design and GIS The design modules in Topocad are:
Topocad profile uses a profile form and creates beautiful profile forms. The module is also used for creation of the profiles from surveys, from profile form and terrain profiles, it handles camber and cross falls and really everything that has something to do with vertical heights on long-stretched objects as road lines, railways, pipes, canals, ditches, etc. With this module you can also calculate surfaces and make surface check towards a road for instance. The Topocad Volume by DTM's calculates masses and volumes from two digital terrain models and creates very nice looking drawings of the volume result in form of contour lines and raster. The Topocad Volume by cross sections is a very high-effective design module. It calculates cross sections from two DTM's comparing them with your theoretic cross section. This theoretic cross section can actually be anything. You will build this up to look and behave really as you want your section to behave. The theoretic section can use road lines, longitudinal road profiles, cambers for help and the section can have any number of layers in the super-structure (space between the theoretic top road level to your terrace level) as asphalt layers, etc. The real advantage of Topocad Volume by cross section is when you come to editing of your design, when you need to change anything, the road width, new digital terrain model, new profile, new section - anything, you will be able to edit it with just a few mouse clicks. It is very easy to get data out from this, to the plan drawing in 3D in cross sections or lines along the road or to a LandXML format for immediate stake out or machine control. The tunnel module is for calculation of volumes and for creation of digital terrain models when it comes to tunnels. It makes almost the same thing for tunnels as volume by cross sections does for roads.

Topocad Calculated sections Topocad Field Topocad Field is an add-on module to Topocad Base module which makes it easy to connect your drawing to your GPS receiver and certain instruments. GPS information is being handled directly by Topocad. It reads almost all GPS receivers directly and also the NMEA format. It also converts and transforms data from WGS 84 to most other national projections. You can define the threshold value/tolerance for GPS information in the threshold list of Topocad. With Topocad Field you have accessibility to maps and drawings and all CAD commands in Topocad. You may interpret points and lines, edit, add symbols, create DTM’s, calculate road line data, etc directly in the field. Topocad Field has functions for survey of points and lines giving attributes and codes to them as well as functions for stake out, both in graphical mode and a numerical view for accurate stake out. Base lines and road lines can be used and calculated on the field for stake out and survey. Topocad FDO database adapter Topocad FDO database adapter is a new and open source database connection, which connect to a large number of databases. It uses the open source FDO from Open Source GEO, which has been adapted to Topocad. Many users have expressed a demanded of a freestanding database. On account of this, Topocad has three different solutions of database connections, where this FDO connection can collect and store data from a large number of different databases. FDO database adapter is a separate module to Topocad, and makes it possible to access data from several different geospatial data sources in the state of geospatial databases and file formats. FDO uses a model based on database connections, where each connection supports a certain format or data source. Following database connections are used:
FDO means an increased accessibility to different databases, many of them free and Open Source, and it offers our customers a very cost-efficient and simple solution for collecting, update and store data in different formats. Topocad aims to be a program easy to handle, and with focus on creating simple functions for mapping in different databases, and simply states how the different types of object should be displayed in the maps. All this with a user-friendly administration tool for the maps. . |
